A run down of the Games.
Saturday - Badminton singles
I stayed at the hotel in the morning trying to get information on our delayed baggage in the hopes that it would arrive before Jack had to play badminton as his racket and shoes were in the missing case.
Jack went to register for badminton at 7am. I meet up with him a little later after being informed that our case would not arrive in time. Jack borrowed a racket from another GB athlete.
He played badminton from 2pm till around 5pm ish however unfortunately did not make it into the semi final matches despite winning 3 out of his 4 games.
Due to the badminton schedule he was unable to compete in boccia singles,
Sunday - Basketball
Jack still had no bag and only his uniform, the clothes he had travelled in and his travelling shoes.
He played Basketball this morning, they played well but did not gain a place in the finals. We left just after lunch time and we rested for the remainder of the day.
That evening we attended a welcome gathering where they had free ice cream and cakes. We got a taxi back to the hotel at 9pm.
Monday - Badminton doubles.
Another early 8am start, still without Jack's bag. Again I spent the morning on the phone to the airline and unfortunately ended up missing all of Jacks badminton doubles games as they did not qualify for the finals.
We got a lift back to the hotel from the family of Jacks badminton partner and Jack's bag finally arrived at around 1pm. Jack then spent the afternoon in the pool and then we went to bed in preparation for football the following day.
Tuesday - Football
This was a long day. Jack and his team arrived at the football pitches at 8am. They played matches till 5pm.
Jack scored the only goal of all the games and managed to get turf burn on his leg so he was pretty exhausted and in pain by 5pm. They played the bronze medal match and sadly missed out on the bronze medal as they were defeated by USA.
Jack then went to shooting where he won Gold!!!

We then went out to dinner with Jack's friend Finlay to celebrate.
Wednesday - floor hockey
We got a bit of a lie in today as we did not have to be at floor hockey till 11am.
Jack was still in pain from football the day before so wasn't on the court for the whole game or every game. However they played really well and tried really hard and managed to achieve the bronze medal.
That evening we watched the basketball finals which ended at 9pm. They then gave out the medals for hockey, shooting and basketball.
When we arrived back at the hotel we went to bed in order to be ready and rested for the following day.
Thursday - Track and Field events.
It was the day we had been waiting for. The day started at 8am with Jacks first race at 8.30am.
Before his race he spent time in Medical getting his knee wrapped and his legs massaged to try and relieve some of the pain.
He competed in the 60M race, 4x60M relay race and unfortunately did not earn a medal in either of them.
He also did Javelin, Shotput and Discus. He did not achieve a medal in Javelin despite throwing around 14M, however he got Bronze in Shotput and Gold in Discus, achieving a new personal best of 13.31M.
Thursday night was the street party in downtown Guelph. It was very busy and great fun. We got home exhausted and went straight to bed.
Friday - We decided to take the day off as Jack was still in pain and completely exhausted.
Saturday - Kurling
Jack was supposed to be doing weightlifting so we arrived for his weigh in at 7am. However due to his age we didn't realise that he was only allowed to do the weightlifting clinic which was a sort of workshop to teach them how to do the lifts properly so that when they turn 16 and are old enough to compete they would know what to do.
Jack was a bit disappointed at this as it meant there were no medals available for weightlifting so he quickly signed up for Kurling in order to have some fun with his friends and at least try and win a medal.
He didn't qualify for the Kurling finals so we left after lunch to go and rest before the closing banquet at 6pm.
The banquet was very enjoyable, it was a great ending to the games.
Sunday - Time to go home
We slept in till 9am as we had to pack and be out the room for 11am. We then waited around the hotel until our taxi took us to the airport at 1.30pm.
We arrived in Glasgow at 8.10am (UK time) on Monday morning with 4 medals:
2 Gold - Shooting and Discus.
2 bronze - Floor hockey and Shotput

The games were exhausting but an amazing opportunity thank you to everyone who supported us and cheered Jack on. Jack returns to school on Thursday after some much needed rest. xx
