The Journey

We woke up this morning at 4.30am (Scotland time). We were both very excited. I was anxious to arrive and just wished to arrive quickly and get settled as soon as possible, It latter became apparent that my wishes may take longer to be fulfilled than planned...

We left the house at 5am and arrived at Glasgow Airport at around 5.50am ish. The check in did not open till 6.30 so we went to sit and have breakfast. We got checked in and through security very easily and quickly and waited at the gate for our flight to Halifax.

We arrived in Halifax at 11.30am (Halifax time, 4 hours behind Scotland). This is where the issues arose. We got through customs and security really easily only to discover that our connecting flight to Toronto was delayed!!!!

We were supposed to leave Halifax at 1.15pm (Halifax time) however the delay which was caused by a thunder storm in Toronto meant that we did not leave Halifax until 3pm!!!!!

Once on the flight we though it would be smooth sailing....

we were wrong. we finally started to descend into Toronto airport at 4.30pm (Toronto time, 5 hours behind Scotland). As we hit the run way there was a massive flash of lightning to the right of our plane and immediately the plane started ascending.

We then circled Toronto above the clouds for an hour waiting for a safe way to land, Here is a screenshot of the tracker app of the plane... We went round in a circle.

Finally at 5.30pm (Toronto Time) we safely landed. However by this point we were running way behind schedule as the opening ceremony was due to start at 7pm (Toronto time in Guelph which was an hour drive from Toronto airport).

We got off and ran to collect our checked bag... There were no bags to collect as due to the storm all bags were delayed. As time started ticking we went to the taxi without our checked bag and they helped us arrange that when our bag is finally taken off the plane that the Taxi service would deliver it to our hotel.

We arrived in Guelph at 7.20pm (Toronto time) and made our way to the opening ceremony, we arrived just as it was ending...

We then proceeded to travel with some of Team GB back to the hotel where we could relax and eat.

It is currently 10.36pm (Toronto time) and as of right now we still have not received our checked bag which has all of Jack's sports shoes and his badminton racket!!!

Hopefully it will arrive very soon or at least before 7am tomorrow morning.
